The hair or cremated ashes are first analyzed to determine whether they contain enough carbon to be turned into a diamond. The carbon content of ashes differs from case to case, and the total contained carbon may or may not be enough for LONITÉ’s diamond creation process. It is highly suggested that clients provide additional hair samples from the family as a supplement/backup plan.
(An elemental analyzer is used to determine the carbon percentage in hair/cremated ashes)
Milling equipment similar to the movement of planetary systems, involving both rotation and revolution
Impurity remover is applied in a special solvent to remove unstable chemicals. The material (ashes or hair) is then milled and stirred into a nanopowder in a special chemical gas environment. The impurity remover attaches to impurities, which are then isolated from the materials by a high-speed centrifuge. Furthermore, special treatment and techniques are implemented so the remaining carbon is adequately preserved while other elements extracted are reduced to a fractional minimum.
A muffle furnace is injected with a gas mix to protect the ashes or hair from oxidation
Heated Vacuum Purification
The milled, purified material is heated to extreme temperatures to eliminate volatile impurities. At this step, oxygen is removed and inert, protective, and reducing gases are injected to protect the ashes or hair from oxidation. Double handling is applied for chemical extraction. In some cases, high voltages may be applied in an energized airtight container to melt and evaporate chemicals, further purifying the solid carbon.
Chemical specialist enhance purity
Chemical reagents for higher carbon purity
Wet Chemical Carbon Purification
The carbon from hair or ashes is then placed in a safe and resistant cabinet, a wet chemical environment so as to increase purity by removing heavy metals. The program-controlled process of specific temperatures, stirring speeds, and the addition of chemical reagents ensures carbon quality. At the end of this final purification step, the carbon purity reaches as high as 99.99% (4N Purity). If the purity levels have not reached 99.99% by this stage, additional customized purification steps are implemented to remove the specific remaining impurities.
Distinguishing from mined diamonds, raw cremation diamonds often contain a mixture of graphite and other materials, particularly on the surface. Our skilled experts, specializing in grown diamonds, meticulously refine these rough diamonds. We can provide a rough, uncut memorial diamond upon request. However, please exercise caution as attempting to cut it post-delivery may result in breakage, especially with inexperienced diamond cutters. Feel free to contact us if you require re-polishing or if you intend to set it into a cremation diamond ring or memorial pendant.
Re-create Natural environments.
Natural diamonds develop in an environment of extreme high-pressure and high-temperatures (HPHT) deep underground. LONITÉ’s laboratory precisely re-creates this environment of extremely high temperatures (3000K) and pressures (60000Bar) and turns carbon from hair or ashes into diamonds.
18.2 MΩ.cm Ultrapure Water System.
Water is purified using an ultrapure water system to 18.2 MΩ.cm (1,250 times purer than drinking water). All chemical containers are cleaned with ultrapure water to avoid introducing external contaminants to the cremated ashes.
1MW Backup Power Generators.
A Cremation diamond takes several months to grow and a power interruption or voltage instability, even for just a few minutes can have a drastic effect. To avoid such shortcomings, LONITÉ has backup power generators on standby at all times.
Thermostat Temperature Controllers.
LONITÉ uses high-precision thermostat temperature controllers to keep the core temperature of the diamond chamber precisely at 2651.6°C [*]. This ensures that the inside temperature remains constant and unaffected by any external temperature changes.
II. Diamond Crystallisation.
Purely Colourless™ at 0.5-1.0 mg/hour.
The purified carbon is the foundation for cremation diamond crystallisation. Air, along with other atoms such as H₂O (water) and O₂ (Oxygen) are removed to ensure that the carbon is very pure and dense.
A typical Purely Colourless™ diamond grows slowly and steadily at the extremely slow speed of 0.5-1.0 mg/hour. Slow crystallization results to fewer flaws and better structure in the cremation diamond.
I. Carbon Purification.
5,000-Minute Purification for 99.99% (4N) Carbon Purity
Purification takes approximately 5,000 minutes, over 83 hours, for each memorial diamond ordered.
Impurities are removed and reduced to 1/500 of the original impurity content, providing 4N purity (99.99%).
Every little detail matters when turning ashes into diamonds. LONITÉ™ uses highly specialized state-of-the-art equipment that allows the greatest precision, quality and stability. Instruments are surgical grade, scales are accurate to 0.001(g).

Atoms Tracing on Chemical Density.
A memorial diamond from pet/human ashes looks the same, both optically and chemically as a natural diamond.
All LONITÉ cremation diamonds are delivered with both a certification of origin and a process analysis report, documenting and proving scientifically that a LONITÉ diamond originates from the ashes of the client’s loved one.
Certificate of Origin with Analysis Report.
The production records, laboratory data, chemical analysis and physical factors of LONITÉ cremation diamonds can be re-verified and validated by any independent certification and quality control institute.
Verified by Independent Research Institutes.
However, experts at LONITÉ™ can scientifically and technically differentiate genuine cremation diamonds because of slight differences in the carbon atoms and chemical density.
Fluorescence and luminescence tracing are commonly used in the diamond analysis under special environments such as short wave ultra-violet light. The LONITÉ laboratory uses even more extensive and advanced examination tools.
From Ashes to Cremation Diamonds: LONITÉ™ Laboratory and Process
Life Element: Carbon.
Turning cremation ashes into diamonds is possible because Carbon [C] accounts for 18% of the human body and diamonds are crystallized carbon. Cremation diamonds are genuine diamonds grown by using the carbon contained within hair or cremation ashes.
Nitrogen [N] accounts for 3% of the human body, which gives a cremation diamond a Naturally Amber™ colour, varying from light yellow to deep orange.
Purely Colourless™ diamonds are created by removing nitrogen [N] from the carbon [C] prior to making a cremation diamond from the ashes.
(High-Pressure High-Temperature (HPHT) presses transform purified carbon atoms from hair/ashes into genuine diamonds)
The purified, extracted carbon is converted into flake graphite in form of a cylinder. Before being placed into the diamond synthesis machine, the cylinder is carefully wrapped in protective and corbelled materials. This prepares it for the final technical steps that require pressure and temperature measurement, insulation, and protection. The transformation takes several days to several months depending on the size and color of the memorial diamond to be created.
