A LONITÉ memorial diamond takes an average 6 months to create. Diamonds with a bigger carat size takes longer time to grow.

Atoms Tracing on Chemical Density.

Memorial diamonds look the same as a natural diamond, both optically and chemically.

However, experts at LONITÉ are able to differentiate genuine memorial diamonds scientifically and technically because there are slight differences in the carbon atoms and chemical density.

Fluorescence and luminescence tracing are commonly used in diamond analysis under special environments such as short wave ultra-violet light. More extensive and advanced examination tools are used inside LONITÉ laboratory.

Certification of Origin with Analysis Report.

All LONITÉ memorial diamonds are accompanied with certification of origin and a process analysis report, determining and proving scientifically that a LONITÉ diamond originates from the ashes of the client’s loved one.

Verified by Independent Research Institutes.

The indicated analysis records, laboratory data, chemical and physical factors, can be re-verified and validated by any independent certification and quality control institute.

Photos of the intermediate steps.

In addition to our scientifically proven certification methodology, LONITÉ is pleased to also provide photos and videos of the important transformation steps upon request. The process takes several months; the photos and videos you receive will give you confidence and comfort in the services we guarantee and provide.

The carbon content in ashes and hair vary individually. In certain countries, we have found the carbon content is distinctly lower because of the higher temperature and higher oxygen levels used in their local cremation process. As a result, to ensure the diamond comes solely from the ashes or hair you provide, LONITÉ will ask you to provide more than needed.

All materials (ashes or hair) are processed and purified in the initial steps. The remaining carbon, in graphite powder form, will be kept for a pre-set period of time as part of our risk control protocol. After this pre-set period of time, any remaining carbon will be individually cremated in a mini furnace. We are able to then return the remaining carbon to your family if requested when you place your order.

Colour Formation of Natural Diamonds
Similar to the formation process of natural diamonds, thousands of kilometres underground deep in the mantle of the Earth, different parts of molten magma present different environmental factors: pressure, density, temperature, magnetic field, electron waves and radiation. LONITÉ experts reproduced these natural environmental factors inside our laboratory so that the essence of your loved ones can take on fabulous colours during the diamond crystallisation process.

Colour Formation of Memorial Diamonds
For laboratory grown memorial diamonds, the different processing procedures and environments result in the wide array of diamond colours offered by LONITÉ. LONITÉ’s dedicated team of scientists, whose work we are fiercely proud of, have expertly developed the technologies and procedures to produce each innovative memorial diamond colour.

Explanation from GIA
According to the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), ”HPHT stands for high-pressure, high-temperature. The process is an effective tool for changing the color of certain diamonds, making them colorless, pink, blue, green, goldish green, or gold.

  1. ‘Cremation bones’ means large pieces of bones (larger than 20 mm) that remain after the cremation process, which contains relatively less carbon compared with powdery cremated ashes (normally around 1-5 mm).
  2. Combined carbon source is accepted, e.g. 5 grammes hair plus 100 grammes ashes.
  3. The colour and type of hair, and artificial hair dye does not affect the diamond colour because all pigments are removed during purification.
  4. Commonly, the carbon content in hair/ashes varies greatly from family to family. As the process is irreversible, we need each family to also supply 0.4 oz / 10 g of supplement hair as a backup.
  5. The above amounts are fixed and needed regardless of the diamond size that has been ordered because the diamond synthesis equipment requires a standardised amount of carbon for crystallisation. Size of the diamond is only affected by the given growing time.
  6. The same amounts are required as shown above for up to three diamonds. The amount for more than three diamonds depends on the diamond sizes ordered. Please contact us for more information.
  7. Human ashes and hair are chemically very similar to those of a pet. Thus, the required amount for pet hair and ashes is the same.

Yes, extra amounts are accepted.

You may also provide all the ashes for what we call a Diamond Burial.

In such a case, please tell us about your situation so that we can supply you with enough containers and sealing packages.

In the tragic case of baby, or the need to order multiple diamonds for a big family, you may not have enough ashes or you may not want to send us all the cremation ashes.

Previously, cases were solved by having family members provide supplement hair samples. Some families chose to put all of their family member’s hair together. In other cases, some families used each member’s hair to mix with a proportion of the ashes.

We are more than happy to work with you to create a solution that is most suitable for you and your family. There are no extra charges or fees for mixed carbon sources.
